More Important Things

December 23, 2005

HERNDON, VA — The business office received its second letter this week confirming another member has decided to skip the Open Championship.

Cohen, a rookie in 2004, returned to Mountain Valley in 2005 with some success.

"Andy clearly has more important things going on," says old college buddy Chad Long. "You cannot force the Open Championship to be important to everyone. I think if Andy wants to be there, play golf with me, he will be there."

Cohen reportedly is traveling to Ireland in June and concerned about making two trips in June.

"I thought this guy put our tournament on his calendar back in November 2003," said a very loud Matt Davis. "Until someone tells me different, I am still the smartest man in the world and I think there is something else going here besides a vacation to Ireland. As far as I am concerned, Andy's attendance is a strong nomination for the 2006 Kitchen Pass Award."

Cohen is coming off a disappointing finish in the 2005 Virtual Tournament. He is currently holds 72nd position. "Andy's poor play has him ripe for a great set of Poststats Points in 2006," said an upbeat Jamie Myers.

"It is not easy to swing two vacations from work, kids and family in 30 days," says Glenn Hoffert. "It makes perfect sense to me."

Andy joins Brian Flanagan as the first two players choosing to skip the 2006 Open Championship.

The 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship deadline for registration is postmarked by December 28.
