Saturday Night Fever!

January 9, 2006

RALEIGH, NC — The Saturday schedule for the 2006 Carl Spackler Open is going to be jammed packed with full-tilt fun.  As opposed to the past tournaments, where the Open has finished quietly, the 2006 Open is planned to have a strong climax.

“Allowing players a decent night’s sleep was a priority for us this go-round”, stated Don Creighton.  “A rested field can attribute to a fun filled evening versus a bunch of zombies walking around at 10 PM trying to have a good time”.  The final round of the 2006 Open is schedule to start at 11:30 AM.  However, the Closest to the Pin competition will begin at 10:45 AM.  “Still, the field will have plenty of time to get their beauty sleep and from the looks of the photos on the website, most of them need it”, commented Brian Long.

The 2006 Open’s final round will be a dual tee event to compensate for the late start.  After the round is complete, scores will be data entered into the website for final results.  The Awards Ceremony will take place at Jillian’s Billiards in Raleigh (literally a hop, skip and jump from the Clarion Inn).

Starting around 9 PM, the Awards Ceremony will commence in a private room at Jillian’s.  The meal for the field will consist of gigantic double-meat burgers and fries.  “I can guarantee everyone will be full and some of the field may get sick trying to eat the entire thing”, Matt Davis cautioned.  “I would recommend small bites and chewing them methodically”.  During the dinner, the Awards Ceremony will take place to speed up the process for the group.

After the dinner, the field will enjoy Jillian’s enormous options.  A gigantic billiard room (please remember that gambling is illegal at Bushwood), old-school shuffleboards, a huge selection of video games to play and drink beer while doing so, a dance club to get your groove on, and finally a sand volleyball court for men to show off their testosterone.  Mike Davis predicted, “Skippy English will stay on the court for 3 hours drinking beer with no shirt on and spiking it in everyone’s face”.  There are huge televisions throughout Jillian’s showing sporting events.

Jay Myers stated, “It was selected as the venue for the dinner because it offers a diverse selection of entertainment for everyone.  There won’t be a single person walking away from Saturday night saying they didn’t have a good time”.  The Captains Club hasn’t been this excited about a tournament venue in a long time.

The 2006 Carl Spackler Open is set to take place on June 8th – 10th, 2006.  Tournament entry payments MUST be received by December 28th, 2005.  Don’t be late or you are sure to regret it.
