2002 Champion Signs

January 12, 2006

BUFFALO, NY — After a few years off to unwind from his Carl Spackler victory, it's back to the business for the winner of the 2002 Golden Jacket. "After a great season, there is clear evidence to me that I am in control of the golf ball," Trojanowski said Wednesday. "This is a big event and I'm ready to give my all to return with another jacket."

In 2002, Trojanowski bogeyed five of the last thirteen holes to snatch the prize from Ohio's Don McFarland. "Winning it was out of this world," Trojanowski said of the Championship. "It means so much to field of players." Mike also brought the "closest to the pin" award back to New York in 2002 with a shot from 155 yards to 6 feet.

Trojanowski, who went from last place in 2001 to first place in 2002 was criticized by some players for his awful play. "I didn't feel what I did was that terrible in 2001," Trojanowski said. "The important thing was the turn around in 2002. The same exciting statement I plan to make this year."

The 2006 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled for Round 1 play on June 8. The site, The Neuse Golf Club, is located in Clayton, NC. Trojanowski is the 1st player to sign from the state of New York and 28th player overall.
