WARREN, PA — The 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship field has taken shape. With a new set of rookies and a strong 2005 field re-signed, the business office held a press conference to discuss the tournament field.

"We are projecting a final count of 60 golfers," says Mike Davis. "That is down 8 golfers from 2005 and 20 less than projected."

Mike Lewis, Steve Hoden, Casey Nelson, Andrew Breese, Andrew Dill, Marc Long, Steve Mascaro, John Gray, Bill Dick, Andy Cohen, Brian Flanagan, Jim DeMaria, Dan Hagg, Bob Morris, Pat Boland, Patrick Marti, Kevin Long, Jr., John McAninch, Jeff Munksgard, Richard Myers, Surinder Punia, Jason Simmons, Billy Smalls, and Lee Spruill have all chosen to not sign financially through the business office.

Jim Campbell is currently the 57th check, however remains on the waiting list.

Michael Watkeys, Rob Fustich, and Brandon Hunter are scheduled to return after skipping the 2005 tournament.

"You really cannot predict the lack of kitchen passes," says Chairman Greg Long. "You make budgetary adjustments and move on. Looking forward to seeing everyone that is returning."

None of the excuses were a surprise by the club. Some of the revoked kitchen passes accompany excuses including lack of funds, lack of friends, wife, weddings, job, and summer vacations.

"There were no pregnancy excuses this year," says Jay Dilks. "It is a really weird turnout."

The entire Captains Club returns with the exception of Brian Flanagan and Kevin Long, Jr.. All senior members will return with the exception of John McAninch. "I think the core is still there," says Jeremy Myers. "Is there anything else that counts more than that?"

With hopefully a final projected field count at 60 golfers, the budget will be reshaped for 60 guys and cut back 25% from the original 80 golfers. "We have made the necessary cut backs in the budget," says Rick Dosky. "We are ready to purchase."

The 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins on June 8. There are 3 spots remaining on the waiting list.
