Curse of the M Strengthens

February 6, 2006

CLAYTON, NC — Throughout the history of mankind curses have plagued and tormented those who are afflicted by them. There has been Da Curse of the Billy Goat, King Tut's Curse, Sports Illustrated Curse, and The Chunky Soup Curse. Recent examination of Spackler statistics has revealed a more hideous and vile curse... The Curse of the "M" still is going strong after the Mike Herron debacle of 2005.

All past winners of the Carl Spackler Outfit: Mike Trojanowski (2001), Tom McCauley (2002), Jon Munksgard (2003), Mike Watkeys (2004), and Mike Herron have had their first or last name begin with the letter "M".

What does this mean? We should expect one of the following 2006 Carl Spackler competitors: Kyle Marti, Chet Munksgard, Mike Davis, Matt Davis, Mike Herron, Chris Milam, Tom McCauley, Jon Marti, Matt Pritchard, Jamie Myers, Marty Zabonik, Scott Mealey, Mike Watkeys, Jeff Miller, or Scott Miller will be cursed!

A total of 3 Carl Spackler's were named Mike. That does not help Mike Davis chances of wearing Ashworth on Saturday.

Only Matt Davis, Matt Pritchard, Kyle & Jon Marti, Scott & Jeff Miller, Marty Zabonik, Chris Milam, Scott Mealey, and Chet Munksgard have never worn an outfit.

Matt Pritchard narrowly escaped in 2004 from wearing double outfits. "I thought the curse was bogus until Tanglewood Park," says Pritchard. "Read my lips. Take this very seriously."

Matt Davis experienced the curse in 2005 sent him to the hospital after an accident. It then propelled him down the leaderboard into 71st position (last place) in 2005 Virtual Tournament. Scott Mealey took 65th, Chet Munksgard took 66th, and Scott Miller took 69th place.

Mike Davis, a.k.a. Gumby, played his worst golf in years at both the 2004 event and 2005 event. Gumby shot 50+ at the easy Tanglewood Park course in 2004 while shooting in the 100's at Mountain Valley. "I do not believe in curses," says Gumby. "There are other logical reasons for my inability to play golf correctly with other people around."

Nevermind that Jamie Myers, Jon Munksgard and Steve Mascaro wore the Al Czverik Outfits in 2002, 2003, and 2004.

Jon Marti suddenly withdrew last year after after the curse was announced. Marty Zabonik played his worst 3 rounds of the year in Pottsville. Scott Miller was struck in 2002 and 2004 when emergencies have caused him to withdraw from the Championship.

It is believed that a small group of participants are currently in the fetal position under their beds sucking his thumbs pondering what to do.

Ponder deeply gentlemen. Because for some of you, The Curse of the "M" awaits!
