Pokey Returns with Shirt

February 15, 2006

PITTSBURGH, PA — Matt Davis shook his head, waggled his reconstructed fingers, and hopped up on the lower platform to announce his own plans to attend this year's major championship.

"Boys... I am back and ready to consume some liquid confidence. My fingers are doing very well after 6 surgeries. I plan to complete the first ever double double this year," said a very excited Pokey Davis. "My first inital goal is preparation for the Open Championship in June. Then taking home first place in the Virtual Tournament."

A group of reporters were chuckling to the point of disrespect. Pokey stopped and confronted them. "Guys! This meeting is about me. The smartest man in the world. Can I help you?"

One lone reporter stood up and said, "Is that the same shirt with the spelling error?" Davis replied, "Yes. It has become a Spackler Classic." The reporter replied, "I thought the shirt was a joke. I did not realize it was real."

Matt Davis signs as the 11th player to represent the state of Pennsylvania. The 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins on June 8, 2006 at the Neuse Golf Club.
