A Boost to 64 Players

April 10, 2006

DULUTH, GA — Second-year member, Bob Morris and third-year member Pat "Hurricane" Boland, has officially signed as the 61st and 62nd players to the 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship. It has long been rumored that Bob would attend, but Hurricane's sponsors, Mountain Dew, would not allow an official press release until his check cleared the bank in mid-March.

They also join the field with rookies Matthew Boland from California and Larry Miller from Georgia.

"Pat's physical skills alone could place him atop the Leaderboard for a day or two," says Jason Watson. "However, it will remain to be seen whether or not he can stand up to the mental stress of playing his 3rd major championship and against a near record field size."

Even Rick Dosky has some doubts, "I've played dozens of rounds with Pat, and quite sure he has played well against the pressure of the tournament, first tee box and 18th green. Without question, these are Pat's most difficult shots throughout the year."

Anticipation for the arrival of "Mr. Donut" Bob Morris may pale in comparison to that of Pat Boland, it is still a topic of conversation. Even Boland himself shared some anxiety, "Get in line. I get the first pick from the donut box. If his golf game is at all decent, he could be the favorite to win the tournament."

Some existing members are worried about the decreased level of competition going into this year's Open Championship. "I've played with both of them and realize they both have focus," says Chris Lashley. "Granted... Boland usually cannot put together 3 solid rounds, but he is due. Morris just has a calm game that you cannot rule out for the coveted jacket."

Two additional rookies (Larry Miller and Matthew Boland) join as the 63rd and 64th players. "I hope these rookies plan to attack the golf course with very aggressive play," says Jason Watson. "It could very well send them home in an Outfit if unprepared."

The arrival of all four players at the 2006 Carl Spackler Open is greatly anticipated. All financial balances are due in the mail within 16 days.
