Fishing for Top Flite's

May 3, 2006

COLUMBUS, OH — Shawn Long is among those who remembers fishing for Top Flite's and wading in the colors of the murky ponds of Mountain Valley along with many of his friends.

"I am one of those guys that finds more golf balls than I lose," says Long, a.k.a Donahue. "The hacking is much cheaper this way."

Long, who now lives in Columbus, OH, recounts sliding into the creek at Jackson Valley as a kid and fishing for golf balls in brisk, cold water that often had small areas of slimy green and brown patches.

"I remember years where we found hundreds of balls in one day," says Long. "Those days are over. So now I spend my time in the ponds at Mountain Valley or wherever I play golf."

Shawn's last rounds came at Mountain Valley in Barnesville, PA. His rounds included 69-74, 60-61 and 63-68 and placed 22nd in a field of 68 golfers.

His last non-major round of golf was in Columbus back in October 2003. He shot 57-53 at Champions.

In other news, Poststats.com has added two fields into it's database. First, there is a field for driver's license number or mother's maiden name. These will be important when you discontinue your email address and forget your password. Secondly, a health related handicap reset is now available. This provides a cutoff in scorecard history in case of a major health related injury.

The 2006 Virtual Tournament Leaderboard may never see Shawn Long, but someone might see him someday wading through a pond.
