CLAYTON, NC — Ashley Davis is one of those rare guys to have home course advantage at the Carl Spackler Open Championship. That appears to be all the pressure one rookie could ever want in a major championship.

The 6th annual tournament begins today with the practice round in Clayton, which is just southeast of Raleigh, NC.

Ashley Davis is the closest participant to the tournament. His private residence, 6.5 miles from the Clarion Hotel, is clearly short enough to ensure no jet or vehicle lag excuses.

"This guy better be ready to party and shoot career numbers," said Captains Club member Matt Davis from Pittsburgh International Airport. "Talk about bringing the tournament into someone's back yard. I cannot imagine the advantage over the field of players. That is a lot of pressure to perform at the highest level."

Ashley has played 8 rounds this year and not playing well as of late.

"Ashley Davis has done a wonderful job collecting plenty of points for his first tournament," said Mike Trojanowski. "The last two scorecards almost look like he is cheating."

The 2006 Carl Spackler Open tournament rounds begin tomorrow at 12:00PM EST. The optional practice round begins today at 1:30PM EST. There are 44 golfers scheduled to attend. Live scoring begins tomorrow evening around 7:00PM.
