A Dominant Force

May 29, 2006

PITTSBURGH, PA — Matt Davis, a.k.a. Pokey, was a dominant force over the weekend. He blasted into the Virtual Tournament with a 62-point effort at Fort Cherry. Although the round is the talk around some water coolers, some golfers are talking about the yardage.

"Did he play from the red?" questioned Jay Dilks. Mike Trojanowski replied, "No. Just 5,800 yards."

Davis shot an impressive 6-over par with 1 birdie and 2 double bogeys. He carded 38 strokes on both front and back side.

"I played pretty well," said Pokey. "Hopefully this will not effect my points in next week's major championship."

Fort Cherry is a par 70 with 4 short holes under 165 yards. Although the course does not host a 500-yard hole, it does have 4 holes over 400 yards.

Matt Davis jumped into 3rd place with 40.2 points per round. He is still 7.3 points per round behind the leader Scott Zavinski.

In other news, Jean Dore continues to be in a slump. Dore played the Family Fun Center in Virginia Beach scoring a dismal 11 points. Bryan Grasser, Don Creighton and David Neill jumped into the Top 10.

The 2006 Virtual Tournament Leaderboard ballooned to 51 golfers this past weekend with Jean Dore still in last position.
