Pressure Mounts for Zavinski

June 12, 2006

DUBLIN, OH — Jason Watson of Dublin, OH has closed the gap considerably on Scott Zavinski, who continues to hold first position in the 2006 Virtual Tournament.

Watson played early last week in three states including Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia. He poured in 48, 45, 53 and 43 points in hopes of gaining the top spot this summer.

"Pretty impressive for unknown courses in the mountains," said Greg Long. "Things looked really good last week."

Watson holds second position by 2.5 points per round. His 44.7 points per round is good enough to step over Joe Butkus, Matt Davis and Brian Long.

"Things went pretty well except for my opening hole at Black Rock," said Watson. "I was so mad that I even blamed Slick for talking and pulling the pin early. Hacking 6 shots and hitting 4 trees on the opening hole is not a good start. Things turned around early when Slick told me to shut up, mark a big fat zero and get focused on the next 17 holes."

The pep talk appeared to work as Watson took only one more zero on the back nine. The season-long tournament completes in seven months or late-December.
