Better, Stronger, Faster

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Captains Club is proud to announce that Matt Davis, i.e. Pokey, has been officially rebuilt. After struggling just last year with only one functional hand, Matt Davis returned Tuesday with a remarkable statement that can only be defined by his posted scorecard.

"Gentleman we can rebuild him, we have the technology. We can make better than he was before. Better... Stronger...Faster..." said brother Mike Davis. "He is a monster with golf courses trying to hide."

Pokey recorded 3 birdies and 9 pars in route to a career high 71 points. The 3-over par round was a career low and has Pokey in a rare, but good mood.

"I am very happy. My 34th surgery has given me the touch around the greens that I have been hoping for," said Pokey. "I am ready to kick Zabonik's ass."

Pokey Davis stuck his hand in a snow blower in early 2005 resulting in a mangled hand and last place in the 2005 Virtual Tournament. The terrible scores last year resulted in a handicap that includes 4 points for par.

The 2006 handicap was no match for the wonderful surgeons that rebuilt the left hand. "We had a feeling our work would provide him a great finish in 2006," said a doctor. "We are very happy to provide the Spackler a better, stronger and faster Pokey."

Matt Davis jumps into 3rd position behind Jason Watson with 47.5 points per round. Pokey remains 1 point per round behind Watson and 3.5 points per round behind the leader Scott Zavinski.
