Welcome Party @ Beach Bar

October 5, 2006

BROOKLYN, MI — With the recent announcement of the Grande Golf Club and Brooklyn as the choice venue for the 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship, the Captains Club has started releasing the itinerary stocked full of golf, services and entertainment.

"We are very excited about Michigan and the opportunities Brooklyn provides," said Jason Watson, Vice President of Awards. "The Brooklyn culture is very different than previous venues and boasts unique entertainment and wonderful golf course."

Brooklyn is small town surrounded by 50 lakes. Each of the dozens of lakes are surrounded by rental cottages and second homes from nearby Detroit, Ann Arbor and Lansing. The popular Michigan International Speedway is also located about 3 miles south of Brooklyn.

"This hidden gem has the proper vacationer structure for exceeding expectations, but without the high tax rates," added Watson. "The Beach Bar is just one of our many prized possessions. It will host our Wednesday evening Welcome Party."

The Beach Bar is located off the east shore of Clark Lake. The restaurant/bar is fully furnished inside and out including a large outdoor patio with stage and live band. The Beach Bar is fully equipped with foozball table, pool table, screened in patio, indoor restaurant, indoor and outdoor bar, televisions and marina for boating patrons.

"I shook my head twice in disbelief," said 4-time member Chad Long. "There were 25 scattered boats anchored on the shore outside the bar with about 100 people wading in the water, jet skiing and socializing over ice cold beer and listening to the live band. That was a great day to be in Brooklyn."

The Beach Bar throws its weekly parties on Sunday and Wednesday evenings during the active summer season. The live music is provided from 5:00-9:00PM each week, which conflicts with the traditional Carl Spackler practice round.

The Captains Club capitalized on the Wednesday opportunity at The Beach Bar. "Participants can expect to see our practice round offered in two waves this year to accommodate the highlighted entertainment," said Jason Watson. "One wave in the late-morning and another offered in the traditional mid-afternoon."

The Beach Bar is noted for their Italian dishes including the best pizza in the county. It is located 8 minutes from the hotel and exactly halfway between the hotel and golf course.

The 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship is scheduled for June 7. Official registration will begin on November 15 with postmarked deadline by December 28. Golfers can send their non-refundable $120 to Rick Dosky today.
