JACKSON, MI — The Captains Club continued to release the broad Michigan package on Wednesday with registration-day just 27 days away from reality. The latest opportunity were actual facts based on weather averages surrounding the Jackson and Brooklyn area in June.

"As we have stated for weeks, the Captains Club is very excited about the Grande Golf Club and Brooklyn entertainment," said Greg Garrett, Winner of 2004 Skills Challenge and 2004-2006 Golden Rods. "Michigan weather history is just outstanding for a 3-day golf tournament."

The area statistically averages 77 degree-high and 65 degree-low temperatures on June 7 each year. Brooklyn inserts itself behind the 71-degree high temperatures of Barnesville, PA.

Garrett added, "Add just 3.26 inches of precipitation in June and weather became a large item to consider in our selection; probably the most underrated part of this year's venue selection."

The Brooklyn precipitation history is a record-low to most likely stand the test of time for the Carl Spackler Open. The Mountain Valley rain forest averages 5.04 inches of rain in June while Lake Erie punishes Thunder Hill with 4.52 inches. Raleigh and Winston-Salem both average 4.06 inches of precipitation.

The 3.26 inches of rain was a surprise," said fellow Captains Club member Matt Davis. "Especially when you measure it against northern Ohio's 4.52 inches, which is located just 2.5 hours southeast of Jackson."

Great weather for 4 straight days has been considered impossible without a venue in Arizona. The Carl Spackler Open nearly escaped all precipitation last June when a passing mist during Round 2 kept the 4-year streak of some rain going into it's 5th straight year. Michigan could crack the 5-year streak that started in Myrtle Beach with just frost delays.

"I truely welcome the possibilities behind a northern climate with higher humidity for the past 3 years," said Greg Garrett. "Lower humidity always reduces passing showers and also reducing cost for unnecessary beverages to simply hydrate."

The 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins with registration on November 15. A cap of 88 golfers is in place along with an ultimate deadline for registration on December 28.
