Golfapalooza Kicks Off

September 21, 2006

TERRA ALTA, WV — Golfapalooza X preparation is complete. Golfers have huddled themselves into the Wilson Cabin off the second fairway at Alpine Lake Resort. Now it is time to crown a champion.

"This has been a great event for many years," says Robby Magruder, a.k.a. Grundo. "There are too many great memories since 1996 to count. I am just glad to be allowed to attend."

Golfapalooza X begins at noon with 26 shots of Jagermeiser. Then the 4-man Best Ball will begin. The round will also be scored as Round 1 of the 3-round MELC Championship using Poststats Points. Greg Garrett, Rick Dosky, Brent Kaniecki and Stan Kaniecki return as defending champions.

Friday will involve a 2-man Best Ball with Greg Long and Stacey Bartlett returning as 5-time champions. The 26-player field will be another team event along with providing a second round of the overall tournament. A scramble will follow Round 2.

"Hopefully Bartlett is too sick to play on Friday," says Grundo. "I would love the great opportunity to take home some prize money."

The final round will begin at 10:00AM on Saturday and also a 2-man Scramble team event. Golfers will receive an additional set of points to handicap the team. These Poststats points will be available Friday night when teams are established and used for Round 3 scoring towards the 3-day event. Stacey Bartlett and Greg Long return as 5-time defending champions.

The weekend is officially complete after the Awards Presentation scheduled for Saturday evening. There are countless prizes and awards scheduled to be distributed.
