Dosky Wins MELC

September 25, 2006

TERRA ALTA, WV — What started out on Friday with Eric Kaniecki in the lead, quickly turned into a GStan wondering if he would be able to hold off Rick Dosky. During second round play, Rick Dosky parred 9 times and bogeyed 4 times. He stormed up the leaderboard after scoring 43 points on the front side and 35 points on the back.

Just one day later, Rick Dosky brought home the MELC Championship Trophy to his fans in Grove City, OH.

Dosky's win returns the Trophy back to Ohio. His win also made a strong statement regarding Ohio as it has won the MELC 4 of the past 5 championships.

"This is a great event," says Dosky. "To come in as a hacker and go home as a Major Champion is the ultimate compliment." Dosky was asked about his binge. "I have never played so well in one round. I am pretty sure my best round ever is 106 or 34-over par."

Pat Boland and Eric Kaniecki both fell apart on Saturday scoring one total birdie during the 2-man Scramble. Stacey Bartlett took home the Green Jacket after a dismal performance at Alpine Lake.

"I did not expect to shoot poorly at the Open," says Bartlett. "My triple-digit scores were just awful. If I could have predicted that disaster, I would have prepared much more this spring."

Stacey Bartlett finished with 93 points and lost the tournament by 11 points.
