Dosky Wins Golfapalooza

September 25, 2006

TERRA ALTA, WV — What started out on Friday with Pat Boland in the lead, quickly turned into a Boland wondering if he would be able to hold off Rick Dosky. During five hours of second round play, Rick Dosky pared 9 times and bogeyed 4 times while the field stood in shock.

He stormed up the leaderboard scoring 43 points on the front side and 35 points on the back including a record-low 98 strokes.

Just one day later, Rick Dosky brought home the MELC Championship Trophy to his fans in Grove City, OH.

Dosky's win returns the Trophy back to Ohio. His win also made a strong statement regarding Ohio as it has won the MELC 4 of the past 5 championships.

"This is a great event," says Dosky. "To come in as a hacker and go home again as a Major Champion is the ultimate compliment." Dosky was asked about his second tournament binge in just two years. "I have never played so well in one round. I am pretty sure my best round ever is 106 or 34-over par. It is an honor to win both Golfapalooza and the Carl Spackler Open."

Rick Dosky takes home $220 with the win. The victory boosts his career earnings to $549. Dosky is the only player in history to win both Golfapalooza and the Carl Spackler Open.

Pat Boland fell apart on Saturday scoring only one birdie during the 2-man Scramble. Stacey Bartlett took home the Green Jacket after a dismal performance at Alpine Lake.

"I did not expect to shoot poorly on Saturday," says Boland. "My scores were just awful. If I could have predicted that disaster, I would have prepared."

Rick Dosky finished with 161 points and won the tournament by 4 points. Brian Flanagan and Pat Boland tied for 5th position. Greg Long placed 7th with Greg Garrett grabbed 8th.
