Slick Formalizes Signing

November 24, 2006

COLUMBUS, OH — The Captains Club announced today the signing of their Chairman, Greg Long of Columbus, Ohio, to play golf at the 2007 Carl Spackler Open in Jackson, MI. Slick signs as the third player and follows Bateson from Ohio.

The Warren, PA native returns to Spackler in search of his 2nd Golden Jacket with what is expected to be a very strong and competitive field. His resume includes 12 major championships since 2001 and a Spackler record 220 submitted scorecards.

"Greg is a wonderful young man and he will continue to add a great deal of depth to a very strong line-up," said Mike Trojanowski. "Slick has mainly competed on the amateur circuit, but has already proven that he can play with the best players. He continues to represent Ohio, which produces some of the best players every year. Greg works very hard and is very competitive which is an attribute that will take him a long way."

Long's accomplishments include the 2003 Closest to the Pin Contest and the 2005 4-man Scramble. He is in 47th place within the 2006 Virtual Tournament with 30.5 points per round.

"I am very excited about returning to the Open Championship and especially the Grande," says Long. "It is a great course that sets up well for my straying driver."

The Carl Spackler Open is scheduled to begin in just under 200 days. Players have 36 days to sign for the best amateur tournament in America.
