Cap Soars Upward

October 18, 2006

BROOKLYN, MI — The Richard Petty Driving School released their schedule on Monday to the Captains Club two months earlier than expected. The announcement removed the single conflict with the Carl Spackler Open and now allows the tournament cap to soar from 68 golfers.

"We are very happy to announce the tournament cap will be raised to at least 78 golfers," said member Chad Long on the behalf of the Captains Club. "The tournament will now control 100 percent of the rooms until January 3."

The first 78 registrations will be eligible to participate in the Carl Spackler Open with zero restrictions, however a tournament field in the 80's could result in late-registrants sharing single queen beds. Event registration officially begins on November 15, however golfers can still send their $120 non-refundable deposits to Rick Dosky today.

"We still have a cap," says Long. "The cap will most likely be in the high-80's and a problem we would like on our plates. This decision by the Petty Driving School is just another piece of great news this fall."

The tournament business office continues to expect between 60-74 golfers to sign for this year's event. The latest estimate nearly removes all worry regarding a proposed cap.

The 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins on June 7 with Round 1 play. Tournament registration must be postmarked by December 28.
