Two Marti's Return

January 29, 2007

WARREN, PA — Jon and Kyle Marti both signed in December to play golf in the 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship. They increase the representation of Pennsylvania to 5 golfers and hopefully increase the chances of gold.

Jon, a.k.a. Jonno, announced that he will be the 25th player to commit and fully expects to shine in his second season. Naturally, a few Captains Club members accompanied Marti to his press conference.

"Today we announce Jon and son Kyle Marti have signed for our 7th chapter of the Carl Spackler Open," said Brian Long. "Kyle signs for his 5th straight year after a shockingly terrible performance in North Carolina."

The Marti's finished the Virtual Tournament middle of the pack in 34th and 35th places.

"My memory of golf is not very delightful," says Donno. "Make no mistake. I am looking forward to my second major championship and the field of players. I do not plan to wear the Carl Spackler Outfit."

Kyle signs as the 26th player. He placed 2nd in 2005 for the Stroke Award and lost to quite a legend. Greg Garrett has owned the Golden Rod (best putter in Spackler history) for 3-solid years.

"Kyle was a great fit into our field of players," said Brian Long in a written statement from the Captains Club. "We were not impressed as he continues to hack year after year, however we see a great desire to play golf at the highest level. We are always open to students of the game."

Kyle is 1 of 6 participants with Grande Golf Club experience. "The Grande fits my game rather well," said Marti in his written statement. "In reverse thinking, my putting on the tough greens along with prior course knowledge will give me quite an edge over the field of players."

Marti joins Greg Long, Jason Ridgeway, Chad Long, Jason Watson and Brian Long as signed participants, who have played the Grande Golf Club.

There are 127 days until the Grande Golf Club becomes a major championship venue. The deadline for registration expired in December. There are 58 golfers signed to participate in the tournament.
