EBENSBURG, PA — Another Long has filed the required paperwork to attend the national 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship. The most experienced rookie in 4 years has signed in late-December suggesting bogey golf.

Gerry Long is a first cousin of Kevin Long, Sr. and currently resides in Austin, TX. He signed in early January after retiring and plans to move this spring back to Pennsylvania.

"Another impressive Long with another impressive handicap," says member Marty Zabonik. "Hopefully he can keep up with social aspects of being a Long. That would add a tremendous comedy to our tournament."

Gerry has posted 3 rounds to date, which have resulted in second position in the 2007 Virtual Tournament. The 59.7 points per round is lower than average, but the Texas golf season is not ripe for the pickings.

"I am glad to add another one of us," said Kevin Long, Jr. "That definitely puts our family statistically in position to capture a third jacket. Nearly a 12 percent chance."

Gerry Long signs as the 39th player, the 4th rookie, and most experienced behind the legend Bill Dick.

The 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship is expected will begin promptly at 8:45AM with a mandatory player meeting in the Super 8 activity room. Gifts, apparel, rules, itinerary, introductions and pairing sheets will be distributed at this time.
