BEXLEY, OH — Dave Lauerhass announced in late-December that he will be the 46th player and 16th player to represent the state of Ohio in the 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship, slated for June 7 in Jackson, MI. The rookie from Bexley, OH was very excited at his mini press conference as he made his first public appearance.

"Hi everyone. I am still a Bears fan after a dreadful Super Bowl and another boring IT guy," said Lauerhass as he ducked at a flying shoe. "Please do not throw anything at the rookies," said Captains Club Brian Flanagan from the front row. "We have heard great things about David and hazing is strictly set for June."

Dave returned to the podum and remarked, "It is great to be here. When I heard of the prestige behind the Carl Spackler Open Championship, it definitely caught my interest. I figured this could be my chance to "break out" into championship play on the golf course. I was tired of winning championships at the driving range and in my local golf leagues."

Lauerhass is a 3-time winner of the Bridgeview Golf Center's long drive contest and winner of Netjets Golf League's 2001 Most Improved Hacker Award.

"I figured it was time to expand my horizons and to add a new trophy to my championship collection," said Lauerhass. "When I heard that Chad Long actually had a chance to win the tournament one year, I knew this was the right place for me to start my championship reign."

Dave enters the Carl Spackler Open with approximately a 28-over 100 stroke average. He heads into the 2007 Virtual Tournament trying to at least validate the 3-digit handicap.

"Dave is a power drinker first and golfer second," said Chad Long with a chuckle from his small cubicle at Netjets. "I need to make sure Pokey brings the funnel and hose this year. Quite frankly, Dave is the kinda guy that should be paired with Marty Zabonik, Matt Davis and my brother Kevin on Friday at 7:00AM."

Dave Lauerhass is the 5th rookie to sign for the major championship. There are 84 days left before Round 1. All options are available for selection until April 8.
