CHESTERVILLE, OH — Mike Watkeys, the 2004 Carl Spackler Outfit receiptent, has signed once again for a record 6-straight tournament. The business office is praying this signing will not be followed by a record 3-straight withdrawal.

"This is a return to my roots," said a very excited Watkeys. "I have not played a round of golf in 3 years and very excited about getting back into golf in southern Michigan."

Watkeys, a Spartan, is also the 2002 Horses Ass after smashing a cart into a tree and flying through the windshield. "Just watch yourself out there when you are mixing drinks," says Watkeys. "I recommend letting someone else drive."

Watkeys signs at the 50th player into a very large tournament field. He also signs as a record 20th participant to represent Ohio. The previous record was 19 participants representing Ohio and Pennsylvania at Mountain Valley.

"It is great to see Watkeys has plans to return," says longtime friend Bill Bateson. "Hopefully, he will follow through with his attendance."

The last time Mike held a golf club in his hand was at Tanglewood Park, where he wore the Carl Spackler Outfit about 10 minutes after putting out on 54th hole.

Watkeys averaged 103.8 strokes per round before entering the 2004 major. He opened the 4th annual tournament with 66-over 136. The disaster was too much for any notable recovery.

Mike has since moved north of Columbus to his horse farm. With employment changes and weddings, he has withdrawn from the last 2 major championships. Watkeys is presently 35th best golfer in Spackler history with 38 senior participants.

There are 65 days left before Round 1. There are 64 golfers scheduled to participate. A mandatory player meeting is scheduled for June 7.
