SELLERSBURG, IN — Greg Garrett embrarks on his first golf trip of the season starting early tommorrow morning when he makes a trip south to northern Louisville, KY. The reigning career long putt champion will play 36 holes on PGA conditioned greens in hopes elevating his stroke handicap in late-May.

Garrett, who has struggled this season to a 17.3 stroke handicap, will play golf with the Head Professional of Champions Pointe in hopes of slipping back into "Class B" status within the Carl Spackler Open.

"Garrett has slipped into a dreadful position," says Tom McCauley. "We need to get things back on track before the Open."

Garrett, a.k.a. Double G, has plummeted into a tie for 32nd best stroke handicap in the Michigan field of players. He is tied with member Barry Cedarquist. "Unfortunately Cedarquist comes before Garrett in the alphabet," says McCauley. "Plus Cedarquist thinks he is a single-digit handicap. So we are presently labeling Double G with C+ skills."

Double G's latest round included just 39 points. The disaster included five double bogeys, one triple bogey, and two quadruple bogeys.

He has slipped down the Virtual Tournament Leaderboard into 33rd position with just George Seidel behind him. "My first back nine this year was a mind-boggling 22-over par 58," says Garrett. "It was clear very early that something was very wrong."

Garrett will join Tom McCauley and Greg Long for 36 holes this weekend. McCauley returns after scoring a hole-in-one last week at Champions Pointe. Greg Long returns after weeks off.
