Ridgeway Shines

June 18, 2007

COLUMBUS, OH — Jason Ridgeway shined last week as he took over the top spot in the 2007 Virtual Tournament. The 31-year old, who has twice placed second at the Carl Spackler Open Championship, plans to keep the top spot throughout the remainder of the season.

"My game has been very tight this summer," said Ridgeway of his recent play. "I am looking forward to taking home first prize in December."

Ridgeway's latest round included 78 points at Buck Ridge. He carded 4 birdies and a 14-point eagle at Hole 4.

Jason owns the top spot by just 0.4 points per round over Jay Dilks. Matt Davis, Dilks and Ridgeway continue to battle over the top spot with nobody holding the spot for more than a week at a time.

"This is a very tight Virtual Tournament this year," says Captains Club member Brian Long. "Things have suddenly got very competitive."

The 2007 Virtual Tournament includes 45 golfers, which include George Seidel in last position with 43.3 points per round. There are 3 golfers within 1 point per round of first position.

Ridgeway lost the top spot 2 weeks ago after a disappointing 57 points at Blacklick Woods Metro Park in east Columbus. The round included just 1 birdie.

Buddy Surinder Punia carded an unimpressive, but surprising 41-over par 112 with a scorecard that included 3 nines and 1 ten. The four very poor holes disguised his round as garbage.

"Punia's round could have easily been 95 strokes," says Ridgeway. "He needs to settle down and realize that 478-yard par 5's are playable. In fact, they are easy."

In other related news, the virtual tournament has seen the rise and fall of legend Jason Watson for Houston, TX. After dominating the 2006 Virtual Tournament, Randy has fallen very quickly into 43rd position with just 48.7 points per round. The Spackler legend has yet to recover from the onslaught of severe hacking that has plagued him since early April.
