ALPINE LAKE, WV — Greg Long, the 8-year member of Golfapalooza, continued to release smidges of his new book, “Memories: How I lived Golfapalooza”, which is due out to book stores in a couple of weeks. Long, a.k.a. Slick, was asked to walk through Chapter 5, which is titled, “The Front Nine” as it provides his insights of how to play the Ron Forse par 72 golf course.

Slick continued with the second hole. “You obviously stop at the stop sign and cross the road to the elevated tee box. The key is to never allow your tee shot to slice or Ron Forse will make you pay dearly. Stock up on beer as the cabin is just off the fairway and keep your ball below the hole. Everything else is cream cheese.

My best memory was either my rookie year or second year," as he laughed. "My group hit their drives and someone had taken with cart to our cabin for some beer. They returned with one of those large rectangular picnic coolers wedged between the dash and seat. They proceeded to play their 2nd shots towards the par 5 green.

While moving the cart to their approach shot, the cooler shifted left and was wedged over the golf cart gas petal. I remember a golf cart driving around in circles without brakes and several golfers trying to run along side it. It was one of those moments you cannot laugh, but it was damn funny. After a couple of minutes, someone ran up to the cart, which was going full speed, hopped on it, and in standing position with one arm on the steering wheel and one arm on the driver's armrest kicked the cooler hard enough to completely knock it off the cart. The cooler spilled about a 12-pack on the fairway including 2 bags of ice."
