A Tie

TUCSON, AZ — Jason Ridgeway, the tournament leader for considerable time, gave up his top spot to Kyle Marti this summer. A holiday trip to Arizona gave Ridgeway a final chance to strike. Some really good golf resulted into a tie for first on the 2007 Virtual Tournament Leaderboard.

Ridgeway played four times over the weekend, which included three different courses in contrast. The first, Canoa Ranch, is nestled in the shallow ravines and rolling hills of the Santa Cruz River Valley. The second, Arizona National, is nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Santa Catalina Mountains adjacent to the Coronado National Forest. The golf course follows the rugged natural flow of the land across shady mesquite-lined arroyos and skirts craggy rock outcroppings. The third, San Ignacio, is nestled between the Santa Rita and Tumacacoris mountain ranges at 3,000 feet elevation, providing for a spectacular and challenging desert golf.

Jason fired four rounds between 69 and 85 points. The scores vaulted him upward into a tie with Kyle Marti for the Virtual Tournament Lead with 75 points per round. "We literally have a tie with one tenth of a point needed to win," said senior member Matt Pritchard. "That is unbelievable. A chance at winning the Virtual Tournament is just one round in very cold Ohio or Pennsylvania."

Ridgeway carded 9 birdies over his 72 holes. He also carded just 11 bogeys.

"What do I win?" asked Kyle Marti. "A place in history with legends like Chris Lashley, Jason Watson and Jean Dore," said Pritchard.

There is just over 30 days left before the 2007 Virtual Tournament is completed. There are 62 participants with Rigeway and Marti tied for the lead. Rick Dosky continues to hold last position. Dosky will undergo replacement hip surgery this January in hopes of returning to form.
