POWELL, OH — It’s about time to begin the preparations for the upcoming year.  You really have 2 choices.  1) Are you going to do what it takes to win the most improved golfer award or 2) Are you going to do what it takes to win the JT Thomas award.

It’s a fine line between the 2 awards and the training is almost identical.  When asked about this phenomenon JT responded by saying “it’s 90% mental and the other half is physical.  Sometime the more you work at something the more you get in your own way.  I would suggest tweaks not complete swing overhauls.  At any given time I can shoot a 70 or a 100.”

Brett Lyme offers this advice “Most guys will do good to just play a few rounds throughout the year.  Maybe enter a few scrambles or play in a league.  But what it really boils down to and most importantly it’s your off the course preparations that will count the most towards your success.  How often do most of these guys not sleep for three days, eat crap food for 72 hours straight, stay drunk for 3 days and then try to golf?  That is what is required to win an event like this.  So typically I cut back from weekly binges to only 3 or 4 days of drunkin, no sleep, card playing stupors.  Kinda like a marathon runner cutting back his workouts to participate in a 5K.”

Eric Melick offers this advice “For longer shots swing harder”. Sheiker seems to think we are “all standing on the wrong side of the ball” Patio suggests “Come find me every few holes, you know to get your mind right” Blankburgh simply says “It’s all about the music, if you don’t come prepared with a playlist that you can play to then you will be screwed all week.  Take some time during the summer to find out what musin you play best to and get them songs in a play list.  This is a huge rookie mistake, it’t not your favorite songs it the songs you pay well too” Mark Kaniecki says “I plan to stick with the tried and true method of sleeping until my tee time then trying to get to bed right after the round” Gstan’s words of wisdom are “Jaeger and a lot of it” Monty ofcourse “Jaega? Let me tell you a little story about Jaega” Carder simply says “Try to avoid large swigs of Knob Creek” Winthorp seems to think “It’s not about golf what you want to do is win one of the other events.  That’s where the money is.  Get yourself a piece of wood cut a hole in it and try to through some been bags in the hole.  Do this for about 9 months and I guarantee you win some cash.  Just act like you never played before when you get there.” Dosky seems to think “You should all go out and get yourselves a new hip.  Keep the receipt then you can get one of those little flags so you can drive anywhere.  Keeps you fresh all day.  No walking that’s the ticket. Double G says “Always swing as hard as you can.  You can always recover if you are close” Brent offers this ”Get yourself a patch and try to play with that. No wait lose your clubs at the airport and play with some from the club house. No, you should play with a torn ACL, No wait, screw it nothing has ever worked for me I have no idea, just pee on some one and laugh” Al Marshal “When I was your age they didn’t even have golf courses.  We had to hit a rock into a tin cup that we buried in the ground.  I suggest you get back to basics and try that for a few months prior to the event.” Jackson heights own says “The key to victory is to move somewhere warm so you can play year around.” Bartlett just simple says “Who cares, none of this matters.  What matters, matters”

Now the only choice you have is which advice to follow…….  We look forward to tracking your progress throughout the year on the website through the virtual tournament.
