PARKERSBURG, WV — How did Scott Miller, a +22.3 stroke handicap, shoot a 6-over-par 77 on Friday at Worthington Golf Club? Yes, Miller played that well, if not better, and was almost apologetic for having done so, inasmuch as he was playing from the white tees, which measure about 5,800 yards.

Still, it was a memorable and career-low round for Miller, 33, who is preparing for the 2009 Carl Spackler Open Championship and competing in the 2008 Virtual Tournament.

"Still now I don't know if it's completely sunk in," Miller said.

Miller made ten pars and one birdie worth 70 points. "It didn't sound right to me," he said. "On the back nine, I wasn't trying to think a whole lot. I knew I was playing well. I just wanted to stay out of my own way."

He holed a birdie putt at No. 17 to keep his momentum going, and never carded a double-bogey. "Not carding a single double or triple bogey was considered impossible until today," said Miller. "I am still trying to figure out how I can duplicate this. I played 9 holes last night and shot a 43 on the front nine, which is good for me but still, I shot a 39 Friday on the front. Friday I worked for a few hours, gave blood at about 10:00 AM, took a nap and went to the course with my brother in law. Hopefully I won't have to give blood every time I want a good score."

Miller also scored seven bogeys worth 21 points and received 1 point for course difficulty.

Chad Long was asked for his thoughts on the round. "I fell out of my chair," said Long when he was told of the round. "I thought, 'you guys are just teasing me.' I quit. I'm never playing again. Golf has been tamed."

Scott Miller scored a whopping 92 points towards the 2008 Virtual Tournament. The career-high point total is the single highest round posted in the season-long tournament and 50 points more than Thursday's round at the same course, where he was unable to score a par.

The 92 points was the third highest posted round in Virtual Tournament history behind Matt Davis' 102 points and Dave Osborne's 94 points in 2007.

Miller jumps out of the Virtual Tournament cellar and upward into 49th position with 55.7 points per round.
