JAMESTOWN, NY — The 2009 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled to be played in less than 250 days. The tournament venue is scheduled for announcement on October 15 with official registration available on November 15. For now, it is time to start budgeting for the major championship.

"It's time to start thinking about the money", said the 2001 Carl Spackler Outfit recipient. "The tournament has managed a bus fee into a very low tournament budget for several years now. A combination of inflating hotel and golf fees plus bus service will result in a $25 to $35 increase per golfer starting in 2009."

Troj suggested a $384 to $394 tournament fee. He also wanted everyone to be reassured that $120 is due in the mail before January 28, 2009. The actual fees completely depend on the venue, entertainment, provided food & drink and estimated field size.

Trojanowski released the same quick statement for the Captains Club, "It is important to save a few dollars in your Halloween budgets to avoid conflicts with Christmas demands. Our tournament will be a great opportunity, but will not be free."

All players will be required to register through the Spackler Business Office. Participants can send checks to Rick Dosky as early as today.

January 28 will be the absolute deadline for tournament registration. The deadline has been established as a means for our department to count the number of serious players interested in this year's major and for our office to make appropriate accommodations on February 3, 2009. Checks received after the deadline will be held and possibly accepted on April 15.

The 9th major championship is scheduled for early June at an undetermined location. The Captains Club continues to research and make key decisions surrounding Interstate I-81 and the Appalachian Mountains.
