WARREN, PA — Mike Davis poured in 4 birdies over the weekend at Jackson Valley Country Club just northwest of downtown Warren, PA. The 9-point birdies racked up a career high 82 points and enough to break into the Top 10 of the 2008 Virtual Tournament.

"This is what happens when you putt well," says Mike Davis. "It might take me the rest of the year to card 5 birdies. Clearly his most impressive round in Virtual Tournament history."

Davis shot a 8-over 79 from just over 6,255 yards. The four birdies came in the first 11 holes. A lone triple-bogey at the 2nd hole was one of two disappointments. The other was a double-bogey at the very easy 10th hole.

Gumby's birdies poured in 36 points. They were added to 6 pars and 16 bonus points for golf course difficulty. The 82-point effort was his highest score since June 15 when he poured in three birdies and astonishing 79 points.

"Played really well in many situations," said Davis after his round. "Enough to clearly lead the Spackler tournament after one round. "Another Top 10 finish has been a goal of mine."

Mike Davis jumps into 9th position with 66.6 points per round. He is expected to make another move upward after his next round. Gumby's 10th oldest round of 49 points is expected to be replaced by something in the 60's or higher.

In other news, Jeremy Myers carded a shockingly low 40-over 112 at Devil's Ridge Golf Club in Holly Springs, NC. The shocking round became even more shocking after players acknowledged the quintuple-bogey at the first hole and septuple bogey at the 3rd hole. "He could have broke 110," says Kevin Long, Jr. "It really shows the importance of the practice range. The range only helps some guys. It hurts Myers."

Myers scored an unprecedented 6 bogeys (24 points) and 1 par (6 points) during his round.

There are a couple of weeks left before football season begins and scorecard volume drops. John Mello of Virginia Beach continues to lead the season-long Virtual Tournament with 73.2 points per round.
