Loozer Enrollment Set to Kick Off

July 5, 2009

TERRA ALTA, WV — It's officially summer and time to start buckling down in preparation for Golfapalooza XIII. Cornhole boards are being dusted off, weight is being checked for those in the Biggest Loozer challenge (can I really drop 20 lbs. in the next two months?), and clubs are being thrown at courses all over the country.

One Loozer who has recently begun his unique form of training is Bartlett. His wife recently popped out their first kid, and he plans on helping out with late night baby duties leading up to GXIII. "I usually don't do any sleep deprivation training prior to my arrival at Alpine Lake, but this year I plan on it by getting up with my little girl in the middle of the night. My wife will think I'm being a good dad and husband, but I'll be thinking about $300 4's & 7's pots. I'm looking forward to see what advantage I'll have."

The FDNY duo of Fire & Ice also committed to this year's event. Catching up with the team at the JT Scramble, Monte and Winthorp could barely contain themselves when discussing GXIII. "Monte and I work at different firehouses, so I had to find a partner for the firehouse Cornhole tournament. Of course my team was able to win, even if I had to carry my new partner. Playing on boards as small as those pictured really refined my game. I'm ready for GXIII." Monte is also looking forward to returning. "I have vacation scheduled for the whole month of September. If I can get Winthorp to swing it, we'll be there for the practice round." Confirming the least-kept secret in all of G land, Monte said the Woo Woo machine will be making a second appearance.

Golfapalooza founder GStan announced that registration for this year's event will begin July 15th and run for approximately five weeks. "Do we really need to start it any earlier and run it any later?" asked GStan when contacted for his comments. "We know our target audience, they know who they are and whether they'll show, so there's really no need to have some long drawn-out registration period. So far we've had one new rookie join the site and we're just about ten weeks away. We're finalizing a couple things for the trip which will determine the cost. Plan on $300-310 for the main trip cost plus skins, closest to the pin, etc."
