Lewis Fires 36-over 71

March 21, 2010

COLUMBUS, OH — Senior member Mike Lewis, the receipent of the 2008 Al Czervik Outfit, has not shattered a personal record for strokes, but did open his 2010 season with a boom. The 6-time member of the Carl Spackler Open shot a 36-over 71 on the front nine at Jackson Valley Country Club.

"There were no bright spots today except Captains Morgan," says Lewis. "The opening 12 can be described as a large problem."

Lewis opened with a 7-over 12 and finished with a 6-over 10. "Munksgard thinks it is funny that I suck," said Lewis. "You would never hear him praise my bogey at the 7th hole, but only the 10 at the 6th hole and 12 at the 10th."

Lewis added, "The main thing is obviously not 3-putting, missing greens,  and driving the ball into the woods. My putting isn't quite as sharp as I would love it to be, but certainly doing something right is always a good way to make up for a little bit of a sloppy long and short game."

The funeral director did rally down the stretch to par the 18th hole and card a 63-over 134. "I finished strong today," said Lewis. "The 8-point par putt was enough to shut Munksgard's mouth."

Munkgard finished with a 44-over 115 on Saturday. The 8-year senior member carded 5 snowmen and a 10 at the 12th hole.

"Holy Hacking Batman!" exclaimed Greg Long. "Those two swung the club 22 times at the 10th hole."

Jon Munksgard and Mike Lewis have entered the Virtual Tournament with 46 and 45 points respectively. The duo has registered and intend to participate in the 2010 Carl Spackler Open next month in Laguna Vista, TX.
