Anxious John

May 18, 2004

WESTERVILLE, OH — John McAninch has had his share of bad golf during his golf career. Or at least maybe he thought he had.  So far, 2004 has been one great thing after another for the player from Westerville as he is in the thick of things.

John started the season with an impressive 84 and 83 and scoring enough points to lead the On Tour Championship.  "Only a piss poor round at Granville is keeping him for destiny", said Tom McCauley.  "His 105 last week was more embarrassing for me than it was for him."

McAninch can't wait for some more good to happen. He's placed tied for 6th in his first major championship only because of butterflies and his driver is better than ever after a few coaching lessons.

"This is just another bump and I am still in 4th place," he said. "I should be in great shape. I'll be able to come back full strength here shortly.  I had to take some time and get better during the offseason or my swing plane would just get worse."

During the offseason, McAninch said he watched Academy Live on the Golf Channel.  "That show was really cool," John said.  "I learned a lot about my hips shooting out too early and that has straightened everything out."

John McAninch plans to play in his 2nd major championship in three weeks.

"I'm very anxious to play again," he said.  "I really think my game is hitting a peek and good things are going to happen."
