Running Scared
July 9, 2004
COLUMBUS, OH — The day was hot, but the humidity was much more intense. John McAninch was the man and he had a date with Legendary Run near Cincinnati. What started poor ended short of a complete disaster as double and triple bogeys crept back onto John's scorecard time after time.
No one would have thought that McAninch would struggle to find the 80's again. "I new that 80 or 81 itself was totally out of the question," says McAninch. "But, if I was going to embarrass myself, I would not have made the drive."
John has held back placing his scorecard online as he would like to keep his +12 USGA Handicap as long as possible and not advertise his true game.
As the summer moves forward, John continues to have issues with breaking 90. The man that once proclaimed, "I am a low-80's golfer," is struggling to find respect once again. Johnny has not shot in the 80's since May when he fired an 86 in California.
McAninch, who currently sits in 11th place within the On Tour Championship Leaderboard is set to lose a few spots when he gets the courage to enter his dreaded scorecard.
