Short of Disaster

April 19, 2005

DUBLIN, OH — Jeff Miller opened on Sunday with zeros on 7 of his first 8 holes at Deer Ridge.  His front nine finished with par and only 4 points.  What started as a disaster, finished on a promising side.  He returned on the back nine to hit exactly bogey on every hole.  He received one point for each.  Jeff Miller, rookie, finished with only 24 points, but short of a complete disaster.

"If you would have asked me earlier in the week if I was going to play terrible, I would have laughed at you," Miller said. "I was really looking forward to playing well during the weekend. I felt good and the course conditions were even better."

Brian Long opened his season with a 105 and 98 respectively.  He scored 44 and 32 points.  "I was so close to getting it going," Long said. "It was just one of those days where I hit a lot of good putts that didn't go in, and then I hit atrocious putts, as well. Despite my misfortunes, I was three holes from a very good round."

Greg Garrett also opened his season with 59 points at Deer Ridge.  A rare 39 strokes on the back nine setup the monsterous binge of points.

Another 17 players submitted scorecards over the weekend including Steve Hoden.  He takes a commanding lead in the On Tour Championship with 48.7 points per round.
