Boland heats up

July 31, 2005

DULUTH, GA — Similar to the steamy weather that covers the southeast this time of year, Pat Boland's game is also warming up as he nears Golfapalooza VIIII. Boland was asked to comment on his latest rounds. "Heading into the Spackler Open I thought I was playing some pretty good golf and the first day I played really well putting up 40 points and shooting 84. I don't know what happened the last two rounds; it was cool in Georgia to start the season and when I came north it was too damn hot. I wasn't used to it and my scores showed it. I rallied by winning the Skills competition which gave me some confidence heading into the rest of the season. Now that I'm better acclimated to the heat I'll be ready for GVIIII and whatever weather comes with it."

Boland was not surprised to hear when Sheiker told him six people so far have taken him up on his offer for $10 if they par #1 on Friday. "#1 should be an easy hole to par, but some people get a little anxious when there's some cash on the line. I expect to get more Loozers to make the attempt."

"I'm a little late in getting my money together to send in, but make no doubt that I will be there. I told my boss 'no seminars this September, I've got a golf tournament to win'."
