TERRA ALTA, WV — Jason Watson begins his quest today to obtain his second MELC Championship at Golfapalooza IX.  One year after his debacle performance that added the wrong jacket.  The Green Jacket for losing the tournament.

Watson has not played golf since his round at the Grande Golf Club back in early August.  He decided not to post that round because it was not good.  He played Kinsdale the day before and had plenty of success.

"I like my chances this year," says Watson. "There is no telling what kind of success is in store for me.  I am pretty good at surprising people."

The 2003 Kitchen Pass Award Winner Brian Flanagan, the 2005 Golden Jacket receipent Rick Dosky, the 2005 Skills Challenge winner, 2004-2005 Stroke Champion Greg Garrett, and the 2001 Golden Jacket receipent Greg Long are also in the field of players.

Flanagan opens things up today at noon on the Alpine Lake Resort course.  The unique design includes six par 3's, six par 4's, and six par 5's.

"My favorite is the par 5 11th where the entire hole makes a power fade around the waves crashing into the shore," says Watson.  "My least favorite is the par 3 8th.  The green is built on a hillside and slopes accordingly.  That continues to be a struggle for me."
