Trojanowski Seeks Help

November 9, 2001

JAMESTOWN, NY — Mike Trojanowski has listened to his 19 year old girlfriend?s advice and taken some tips from Shawn Walker, the player who won the 2002 Summer Open.

Troj, despite placing sixth in the Summer Open, has struggled with his driving for most of the season.  He finally agreed to see Walker on Tuesday after being pressured by his girlfriend, Sally.

"This season has not been a good one for me ... and Sally told me at Cable Hollow last month, 'enough is enough, you've got to do something and see somebody,' " Sally said Wednesday on the eve of the official 2002 Open Championship letters-of-intent being mailed out.

"Yesterday I saw Shawn Walker just for 15 minutes. He told me what he thought about my swing, and we're trying to do a little thing and see if it works," Troj said. "It's the first time I've seen Shawn.  My backswing is causing the problem, the face should be a bit more open to get a better angle, a better position."

"It hasn't been a good season for me, very negative," he said. "I've had a difficult time, even though I placed well in the Summer tournament.  The problem has not only been the driver, though. I've also struggled with the putter.  I have not enjoyed playing at all, except for a very few weeks.

"When you struggle with your game so much, you don't enjoy it, there is no fun on the golf course."
