ASHTABULA, OH — Vice President of Golf Instruction, Tom McCauley today announced the surprise signing of Brian Flanagan of Powell, Ohio, to a national letter of intent during a late signing period in early March. Flanagan is the 13th player from Ohio to sign for this year?s major championship.

Butter, a fifth member for 2003, has decided to attend this year to show the ability to acquire kitchen passes at will. ?I had reservations about re-adjusting my vacation until my wife said, ?Brian. Are you going to Spackler?? Butter replied, ?That's our family vacation.? Disgusted, she replied, ?I will take the 3 girls and drive to North Carolina.  You can play golf and fly down to meet us.? Flanagan immediately filled out his letter of intent and sent a note. ?I am excited about this tournament. This is my 8th kitchen pass in 60 days. I going to win this for my family and hopefully fill the highly demanded spot of Matt Davis' playing partner.?

Flanagan sent a Top 10 list of why he has decided to attend the 2003 Tournament. 10.  To see McFarland's face when CEO Myers asks him who had a better record -- Dolphins or Steelers 9.  To see how many stripped gears it takes Garrett to get the Player Transportation Vehicle into Madison. 8.  To see if Hevy Jo remembers his wallet. 7.  To see if Myers gets "hit-on" again by a cart bitch while wearing the Al Czveric Outfit. 6.  To watch Trojanowski transfer the Golden Jacket to me on Saturday evening. 5.  To see the entertainment supplied by the Vice President of Player Entertainment. 4.  To see if Watkeys brings a seatbelt for his golf cart. 3.  To see if OlaFowble can shoot 158 in Round 1 without losing a ball. 2.  To see if Jon Munksgard and Big Kev arrive to the Championship in a limo. 1.  To see if Davis' mother can spell Madison correctly.

McCauley believes Butter will be a big boost for the tournament. ?We are very excited that Butter has chosen to attend the Open Championship. He is a proven player with extensive regional and national experience. He has the ability to shoot bogeys and is an excellent student of the game.?

Kevin Long of the Captains Club added, "Flanagan has the potential to make an impact right away in our tournament if not helping Davis with the P.W.R.P.  Things are starting to get serious with players like this coming.  He is a strong player and could get into some heads early." Hevy Jo continued, "Butter is, in Spackler terms, 'a diamond in the rough'. His father played golf and his friend knows someone that is an excellent golfer. I assume it is in his genes to be a successful athlete at the amateur level and possibly the professional level of competition. I know he has set high goals for his golf future".
