TERRA ALTA, WV — Slick split the middle of each fairway with the big dog, then ducked out as Max Dieterle, Gus Sokos and Don Spraguer cleaned up each hole in a rout of the field in the annual 4-man best ball at Golfapalooza VII.  "We never had it so easy, nor we ever made winning look so easy", said Sokos.

Desdraught by plenty of tequila, the team made rare attempts at focus, but remained deliourious through easy golf cart spinout.  The team managed to win the event for the fourth straight year by shooting an impressive 73. It will only look routine in the record books, but alcohol was a major factor.

The team closed with a 1-over 74 to become the first team in 7 years to win the same tournament four straight times.

This was a dominant performance despite the drunkfest scenes of Sokos running to the bushes to pee, Max spinning out golf carts and Spraguer chugging a mixed batch of Slick tequila sunrises.  The team was helped by a cool, steady rain that drenched Terra Alta and the field, but was not noticed to the happy foursome.

"Gus was really strong down the stretch", said Slick.  "He returned to the clubhouse and his fans on #18 green by scoring par on Hole #17 and Hole #18.  "That is the kind of teamwork that builds a dynasty", said Dieterle.

The field should have saw this coming after Sprague, the 2nd worst handicapped player in the field, started with par on Hole #1.  Spraguer shot an uncharacteristic two pars and one bogey on the front nine.  Rain that fell throughout the day almost forced the foursome to drink an excessive amount of liquor.  "It was mind-boggling watching the way these guys played", Spraguer said. "Slick went over the hotel on Hole #9 and was on the fringe for god sakes."

The foursome plans to return in 2004 to defend their title and the chance to win an unthinkable 5 straight.  Golfapalooza VIII is already shaping up to be another bonanza.
