Recruiting the Best

October 29, 2003

WINSTON-SALEM, NC — The Captains Club are officially recruiting the best players and communicating the opportunity for potential rookies to get registered and begin entering scorecards. What appears to be an seven month notice is only two weeks since tournament invites will be mailed on November 15.

"We would like everyone that has friends thinking about Carl Spackler 2004 to get them registered", said Kevin Long, Jr.. "We have a great tournament and would like to see great things happen. Great things happen with great players and accurate handicaps."

James Sandin from the Scotts Lawn company could be the first rookie to sign for 2004.  "This sounds like a great experience", said Sandin.  "I might need some of that PWRP reading material."

The Carl Spackler Open is scheduled for June 10-12, 2004. The Village Inn and Conference Center has partnered with the Open Championship to provide lodging for the players.  Tanglewood Park in Winston-Salem, NC has also be partnered to host the major championship.

Final preparations are being made in the next few weeks regarding price and tournament weekend.  The Captains Club is aggressively recruiting for the next few weeks in hopes of landing some great talent.  "One thing is for sure", said Tom McCauley.  "Your deposit will be $120 and due by January 2, 2004."
