WARREN, PA — Gumby Mike Davis, a second year player from Pennsylvania, has signed a National Letter of Intent to enroll in the Carl Spackler Open and play golf, brother Matt Davis announced today.

Gumby is the 1985 Class 3A State champion in basket weaving and will look to make a more intense impact this June. He did every thing but cruise at the 2003 major after his uncomfortable swing cost him more than the RAW title.  He handled the hazard conditions with no respect for the course nor focus on course management. His near triple-digit final-round gave him the 2nd worst round inside the Top 20 players and slipped him six spots on the prestigious leaderboard.

"We are all very happy to have Gumby become a true Spackler addition. He has great potential and has already shown the ability to win important events," declared this swing coach. "The guys on the team already know and like Gumby and he fits in well with the other boys in the field. Gumby played very well at times last summer and is a hard-working guy. He is a tenacious competitor with a great deal of desire and the intangibles he brings to the team will benefit the rest of the guys."

Mike Davis signs as the 25th player and the 7th player to represent Pennsylvania.  The 2004 Carl Spackler Open is an annual 54-hole tournament played inside eastern America.  This year's event will be played in Winston-Salem, NC at Tanglewood Park.
