BRUNSWICK, OH — The Carl Spackler business office announced yesterday the signing of Mike Certo to a National Letter of Intent to attend the June major championship and will begin playing golf this spring as a rookie of the On Tour Championship.

"Certo is a short guy (5-foot-7), comes from an athletic family", said Jamie Myers, now in his first season.  "He is a hard worker.  He is definitely capable of playing as a freshman.  He is self-motivated and will make a solid contribution to our program in Winston-Salem and years to come.  I think he can win tournaments individually and help the group increase the age of the average player in the field."

Certo is another player from Ohio, but the first player from outside the Columbus metropolitan area.  Certo is from Brunswick, OH just outside Cleveland.

The 2004 Carl Spackler Open begins in just 138 days.  As the players continue to sign, the Captains Club has reserved plenty of rooms and tee times for the large field.  The Club is also researching the best opportunities for entertainment.
