Three Dicks a Charm

February 3, 2004

DALLAS, TX — Bill Dick will help lead the Carl Spackler Open into the next level of maturity.  A maturity that exposes our growing tournament to the state of Texas.  Bill signed in late December as the 38th player and our 3rd "Dick".  Bill follows two other "Dick" commitments by Dick Myers and brother John Dick of Warren, PA.

"Uncle Bill is without question one of the top players in the state of Texas", said nephew Matt Davis in a press release. "I am thrilled that Bill will be joining us in Winston-Salem. He brings a great deal of talent, experience and success to the Carl Spackler Open."

Althought Bill is a student of the golf swing, he has been struggling for years.  "I haven't reached a point where I really need a pair of eyes -- when I'm struggling that badly, where I need some help. I'm sure there will be a point in my career. Hopefully, I can work out the flaws between now and June."

Bill Dick also says he can fix what's wrong through videotape or by watching his ball flight.  "Over the years, from working on my golf swing, you start to learn what causes what", Bill said. "For me, a lot of it starts with setup. Once I get the setup right, it's usually the takeaway. You take it step-by-step.

"I would add that a lot of my faults start right at address. If I get my address position correct, everything postured right, then the swing will happen naturally."

The Carl Spackler Open is scheduled to begin Round 1 in 127 days.
