Ignoring The Option

March 3, 2004

WINSTON-SALEM, NC — With 98 days left, nearly all players in the field of 44 decided to ignore the optional payment created at the halfway point.  The March 1 deadline for optional payments passed Monday with not one payment.

"With no checks received, you wonder if the Spackler business office is having email problems", said Rick Dosky.  "But, when you consider the procrastination of December and January, you soon realize the money will not be coming until late April."

There are a few players who are paid in full.  Tom Fowble, winner of the 2003 Golden Jacket easily wired his money back in November.  Greg Long, winner of the 2001 Golden Jacket also was paid early.  2002 Spackler Outfit Winner, Tom McCauley is paid along with Brian Long. Rick Dosky, our CFO also set a good example last month by paying the entire fee.  Jason Watson rounded out the paid players by recently signing for the tournament with a full payment.

Matt Davis is nearly paid in full and ready for his 4th chance to win the Golden Jacket.  Pokey has been working with members inside the P.W.R.P. and also working on his putting.  "I have been working on reading the greens", said Pokey.  "My actual putting is not too bad, but I just cannot read them."

The importance of ontime payments is critical to the Business Office.  One last reminder is scheduled for mid-April.  The Captains Club asks everyone to help the group collect a record $14,000 in an organized manner.
