WINSTON-SALEM, NC — In support of the growing pace of the Open Championship, the Captains Club is pleased to announce that a few new positions are filled, effective immediately. Mike "Gumby" Davis accepted a new position of Manager of Tournament Activities and will report into the Captains Club.  His initial responsibility will be design and faciliate the Red Tee Lottery and Closest to the Pin Contest for 2004.

"The group was looking for a unique combination of skills and personality that will help us position this major championship well into the future", said Jason Watson.  "What we got was just that."  Gumby excited about his new role noted, "I have never taken a job with no pay.  This however is different. It is my way of giving back to the group and the people who keep this tournament weekend going."

There are several positions currently filled including Chief Financial Officer (Rick Dosky), Chairman (Greg Long), Vice President of Tournament Scoring/Rules (Jason Watson), Chief Executive Officer and Vice President of Apparel/Liquor (Jamie Myers), Vice President of Tee Times (Kevin Long), Director of Alcohol (Jeff Cowan), Director of Pizza (Don McFarland), Vice President of Apparel/Alcohol (Matt Davis), Manager of Spackler News Network (Tom Fowble), and Manager of Tournament Scoring (Brian Long).  "We just added a big piece with Gumby to a great organizational structure", said Greg Long.

After Spackler 2004, Don McFarland and Jeff Cowan will be promoted to a Vice President and member of the Captains Club.  

Currently, there are other careers within the Carl Spackler Open.  Positions including Two Putt Contest Coordinator, Casino Dealers, Casino Table Monitors, 4-man Scramble Coordinator, Award Coordinator, and Tournament Bag Storage Coordinator.  Greg Long, the chairman is actively interviewing for all open positions.  All interested players should contact him immediately.
