Coolers Encouraged

WINSTON-SALEM, NC — Great parties, I mean golf trips don't just happen by chance. They're a result of careful, detailed planning by very intelligent members of Carl Spackler Open. That's why the Spackler Open has chosen Jeff Cowan as the right man to collect the alcohol and players like Greg Garrett and Jamie Myers to lead the consumption.

The Captains Club has confirmed that coolers and beer will not only be permitted on the golf course by the Director of golf at Tanglewood Park, but encouraged. "This might be the drunkest I will ever get on a golf course", said Myers. McCauley also replied, "Wow! Does the director know who we are?"

The Open encourages the use of alcoholic beverages by players, it condones the violation of applicable laws, but is throughly against the breaking of golf rules. Individuals who choose to consume alcoholic beverages, regardless of their age, are responsible for their behavior.

To address the potential behavior issues, the Captains Club offers alcohol education programs that seek to inform players of the risks and moral implications of alcohol abuse. In addition, there are players available to counsel about alcohol problems where individuals may be referred for additional help. If that doesn't work, Don Creighton, Vice President of Player Discipline will step in to bring order.
