High Demand

WINSTON-SALEM, NC — The Carl Spackler Open did not have a highly demanded spot for long.  The Captains Club has signed another athlete to compete in 2004 major championship by the name Joe Caridi. "This guy has tremendous success with his drive to the golf course, his parking, and even paying for a round of golf.  Everywhere except for the golf course," noted Vice President of Player Recruitment, Jason Watson. "But at Spackler it does not matter as his limitations will be well hidden in our tournament.   He showcased his lack of accuracy, scaulding short game and course management skills last week with his 144 stroke performance.

"Joe is very strong off the tee, but ball control puts him out of bounds," Watson continued. "Though he has some issues, he is getting plenty of points.  Combined with his mental toughness from the Pittsburgh inter-city, he has the ability to shoot 55-over par and the win the championship.  He will add great hacker depth to our field and make an immediate impact."

The latest signing puts the tournament back to 48 players.  Although a certain shift of pairings is probable, the tournament still looks like a hit.  The 2004 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled to begin with it's annual practice round on June 9.
