WINSTON-SALEM, NC — Brian Flanagan won the Kitchen Pass Award in 2003 with style along with the 2003 Stroke Award. These two honors were given to him one night before leaving on an early flight to the beach to see his family.

Flanagan planned to send his family in the van from Columbus, OH to the beach in North Carolina while he went to Madison, OH to win a major championship last week. Brian met his family after flying one way from Cleveland to Norfolk, VA and obtaining a shuttle to the beach.

"My pregnant wife really wanted to spend quality time with the three little girls", said Flanagan. "What else can I say, but a major championship like Spackler ranks up there with my family." Brian placed 4th with 90 points within a field of 32 players. Brian then left the player housing early Sunday morning around 5:30am to catch a flight to Norfolk.  "Repeating this year is highly unlikely.  My wife and family will be in Columbus and unpregnant."

"I think Flanagan set the standard last year", said Pokey. "I just hope an unusual circumstance is not the expectation, but then again, I hope everyone can obtain the kitchen pass like Flanagan. He should be a model in my magazine."

The 2004 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled for June 10 with a practice round on Wednesday, June 9.  Flanagan includes a field of 24 players traveling early to get in the extra round of golf before the tournament begins.  The Golden Jacket will have another owner in 39 days.
